Special Ministries

Various special ministries are part of the annual landscape at the Elderton Presbyterian Church. They provide seasonal opportunities or specialized commitment to a specific task.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School will be offered in 2018, the week of June 18--22 at the Shelocta Presbyterian Church. We will once again work in partnership with the Shelocta Presbyterian Church and the Plumcreek Church of the Brethren. This community based outreach centers on children in the elementary school age group. The program, under the direction of Carmen Riggle and Hannah Schrecengost, will feature morning sessions Monday thru Friday.

The Cantata

The Cantata is a Lenten musical and theatrical presentation offered by the members of the Elderton Presbyterian Church to the community at large. Taking over three months to regularly rehearse and prepare, and involving around 80 cast members, the Cantata is presented in a 3 day format – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings – at the end of Lent. Each season focuses on a different script and music, but each is centered on the life of Jesus and tells the story of His passion and resurrection. Featuring costumes, lighting, dramatic and musical presentation, the Cantata provides a powerful witness to over 900 people that attend over the three day weekend.
